The picture of the Conference of Security and Co-operation in Europe in 1975 in the period press

The bachelor thesis The Image of The Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe in 1975 in the period press aims to describe how the Czechoslovak daily newspapers Rudé právo, Lidová demokracie, Práce, Mladá fronta and Svobodné slovo of that time informed about the historical event called Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe (CSCE). It covers the period from the 1st of July 1975 to the 31st of August 1975. In the middle of this period, the last and most important part of the two-year conference took place. The representatives of the 35 participating countries signed there the Final Act of CSCE, which summed up the principles of international co- operation. The analytical part of this bachelor thesis deals with a portrayal of the topic by printed media considering both their content and formal aspects. It also examines the way political propaganda and manipulation impacted articles about CSCE. The theoretical part contains a chapter on the conference itself. This event was important for history because it stressed the issue of human rights and contributed to the end of the Cold War and to breakup of the Soviet Bloc. The Helsinki process and it's impact on the regime oposition in GDR and ČSSR

This bachelor thesis deals with the opposition movement in the former Czechoslovak Socialistic Republic and the German Democratic Republic and aims at their comparison after signing the Helsinki Final Act of the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe. This Helsinki Accords committed both states to the observance of human rights. In the first part of the thesis the approaches of different authors to use the term of opposition and dissent are defined. The second part primarily outlines the international situation after the World War II and mentions the need for a European Security Conference, which after all led to the CSCE. In the third part, the opposition movements in both states are presented, and it is investigated how the situation of the opposition in both countries was influenced by the Helsinki process. The Charter 77 was quickly formed in Czechoslovakia. It referred to the commitments made in the Helsinki Final Act in its statement. The development was slower in the GDR. There was a stable opposition from the circle of the Evangelical Church, and mainly addressed was the peace question. The Czechoslovak desk of the Radio Free Europe: Its development and impact on the Czechoslovak history

The disertation is focused on development and importance of the Czechoslovak desk of the Radio Free Europe in period between 1950 and 1994. This broadcasting have gained in time of strong censorship significant and till now unresearched importance. In February 1948 the Communist party took power in the Czechoslovakia. After that Czech and Slovak democratic politicians had left country to the West. They wanted to break the isolation of people living behind the Iron Curtain and promote restoration of democracy in their homeland. In 1949 was in the USA established the National Committee for Free Europe as fomally independent citizens association. As its most known activity had became the Radio Free Europe (RFE). This radio station had became an important tool for political strugle between two blocks in time of the Cold War. The basic qestion is what real position RFE broadcasting have reached in this struggle. The estabilishing of foreign broadcasting to the Czechoslovakia was very difficult task. RFE started its activity as exiles platform for purpose of liberation the Czechoslovakia from rule of the Communistic Party regime.
